A 35-year-old lady allegedly poisoned herself and her two children in Dwenedabi, a rural hamlet near Offinso in the Ashanti Region, resulting in the death of a 3-year-old girl.
Sister Mansah allegedly fed Gramozine to her children, killing her three-year-old daughter, Abdulai Akua Hawa.
She and her six-year-old son, Abdulai Sampson, are currently receiving treatment at Techiman Holy Family Hospital.
The incident happened on Monday, June 10, 2024.
According to available information, after ingesting the poison, the lady raced to her husband at his bar in the vicinity and told him that she had given the children poison and had also eaten some, and that he should go save them while leaving her to die.
The husband then rushed home, grabbed the children, and took them to the hospital.
According to Dominic Duut, who reported the incident on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM’s Nyankonton Mu Nsem, the three children and their wife were brought to the hospital for treatment.
However, as they were coming home from the hospital, their health worsened, and they were transported to Holy Family Hospital. However, the three-year-old child did not survive.
The reporter added that the husband was unable to speak with the media, but his father stated that he is unaware of why his son’s wife did what she did.
The police have opened an investigation into the incident.
