A group of traders and market queens in the Ashanti Region have requested to the governing New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential candidate to select Madam Akosua Frema Osei Opare as his running mate.
They believe she is more viable, knowledgeable, and compassionate, and would add value to the NPP ticket.
The individuals expressed their belief that she has demonstrated a high level of qualifications to partner with Dr. Bawumia.
Eno Mary, one of the group’s leaders, told Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM that while Energy Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has been presented as a possible running mate, he is not a good choice.
She said they submitted their appeal to the Vice President when he met them as part of his Ashanti Regional Tour.
“The Chief of Staff has demonstrated patriotism, and everything indicates that when given the authority to lead, she can meet the aspirations of the people. We are requesting that the Vice President settle on her. She is a woman who is both competent and credible. We want him to settle on the chief of staff in the same way that the NDC has on a woman. As merchants, we understand the mechanics of what is going on, and we want to urge the NPP to settle on Madam Frema Opare.
Eno Mary stated that the Chief of Staff has done a lot for traders in the country. Most marketplaces in the country, including Kumasi Racecourse, Bantama, Kejetia, and the central market, used to be in disarray when it rained, but she has lent us a helpful hand during these trying times.
She served notice that they would advise themselves should the Vice President refuse to settle on Madam Frema Opare as his running mate for the December 7 general elections.
“We have appealed to him, and we anticipate him to settle on her. If he refuses to settle on her, we shall protest against the NPP. NAPO, which has been proposed by some, is not a good option. He has neither shown or offered any type of assistance to traders.”
