Member of Parliament for Builsa South, Dr. Clement Apaak, says the reason why the government has refused to deal with galamsey is because officials of the state and party persons are benefiting from it.
The MP claims that President Akufo-Addo’s promise to put his presidency on the line in the fight against galamsey was a deception.
He claims the Nana Addo-led administration had no strategy or effort to deal with galamsey.
He lamented that illegal mining is destroying our environment, most especially polluting our water bodies.
He suggested that the fraudulent fight was purposely designed to help state officials and party persons engage in illegal mining activities.
He has therefore asked Ghanaians to vote massively against the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), being in opposition to former President John Dramani Mahama, who remains committed to fighting against illegal mining.
In a post on X formerly Twitter, he wrote “Galamsey is booming because NPP government officials and party leaders are beneficiaries. There was never a fight against illegal mining by the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia led administration. The fraudulent fight was designed to give access to them and their cronies. Say no to the destruction of our environment. Say no to the pollution of our water bodies. Say no to a 3rd term for Akufo-Addo/Bawumia if you want positive change. Vote for change. Vote for John Dramani and NDC”.
