Former General Secretary of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Janet Nabla, says despite her sacrifices and hard work, she was hated and antagonised.
The female politician, who is now the Chairperson of the People’s National Party (PNP), had to leave because the party was no longer the one it used to be.
She said she joined the PNC because of the influence of her parents, but the party has digressed from its original obligation.
She asserted that it is the responsibility of political parties to contribute to national development by providing alternative solutions to the challenges confronting the country.
However, the PNC is no longer offering that, and that was also the major reason she had to leave together with the others to form the PNP.
“I was undermined as general secretary. I was never treated with respect, and my office was disregarded because I was a woman. Meetings were held without my involvement. They ganged up against me and plotted to have me removed from office. I was suspended on allegations of gross misconduct, insubordination, and incompetence. These allegations were all false,” she told host Kwabena Agyapong on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5 FM.
She added, “They hated me for nothing. I did nothing wrong. They peddled falsehoods against me to the point that they went to places claiming that I was suspended due to financial misconduct. Yes, the court upheld the suspension, but I state that it was in error,” she noted.
She was emphatic that the PNP was positioned to contest and win the 2024 presidential election.
The party has since secured a provisional certificate from the Electoral Commission.
The acquisition of the provisional certificate, which is in accordance with Section 8(2) of the Political Parties Act, 2000 (ACT 574).
