Two children who went missing on June 22, 2024, in Banvim, a community in the Kakpagyili electoral area in the Northern Region, have been discovered dead.
The victims, Arafat and Ayaa, went missing on Saturday, June 22, 2024, after informing their parents that they were going to visit a neighbour.
The children, however, never returned home.
Some community members went in search of the children in the house of the alleged neighbour, but they were not found.
Police investigations on Sunday revealed that the bodies were found in an abandoned car parked behind the suspect’s house.
The bodies have since been deposited at the Tamale Teaching Hospital mortuary.
Meanwhile, there is an uneasy tension in the area following the incident.
Reporting from the area, Prince Kwame Tamakloe said the deaths of the children have shocked residents.
He reported that the pictures of the children were pasted in the community and also announced on radio and television stations, but all to no avail until they were discovered dead.
He indicated that the said neighbour is a known spiritualist, and he is suspected to have used them for ritual purposes.
He added that some other body parts were discovered at the scene, making the bodies eight.
The self-acclaimed spiritualist has since been arrested and is assisting the police in their investigation.
The youth of the area have set the house of the suspect ablaze.
