The Concerned Farmers Association has threatened to compel President Akufo-Addo to resign if the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) sells four of its hotels to Rock City Hotel, which is owned by Bryan Acheampong, the Minister of Agriculture.
The National President, Nana Oboadie Boateng, says they are against the sale of the hotels and has therefore called in SSNIT to halt the sale or face their wrath.
He also asked the Minister to forget about purchasing the hotels because if his company ends up buying them, they will launch a campaign against him and ensure he loses his seat in parliament.
To the President, they warned him to halt the process if he wants to peacefully enjoy his tenure.
He told the host of Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5 FM, Kwabena Agyapong that the era where our political leaders use their political offices to sell and privatise state enterprises must end since these processes are shrouded in corruption and deliberate machinations by office holders to steal from Ghanaians.
He described politicians who buy state assets while in power as thieves who don’t deserve to be elected MPs or state officials.
“Bryan Acheampong should forget about it. He will not get the SSNIT hotels. SSNIT should halt the transaction. We will not allow SSNIT to sell the hotels to Bryan Acheampong. If they go ahead with the transaction, we will collapse SSNIT. We will also organise a gargantuan, unprecedented, or massive demonstration against President Akufo-Addo. The demonstration will be massive, so the world will know how useless this country called Ghana is.
“We will expose these corrupt leaders as those who have mismanaged this country and are now selling and privatising state assets. We will organise the massive demsontration and serious uprising that have never happened in the world before so that the world will know that this country called Ghana is the most useless country ever because they can’t manage their own affairs.
If this is how we will continue to privatise our state assets, then the presidency should also be privatised. We need to privatise the presidency and allow the whites to take over or bring the Arabs since they have the resources. This president and those coming have proven that they are incapable. If you are in your country and cannot manage these little things, then you are senseless and lack wisdom. We are not in support of the illegal sale of state assets to political officeholders. If you are not capable, move out. We will know that Ghanaian leaders cannot manage us, so the British should come back and rule us.”
He also stated that they are now conducting an investigation to identify all politicians who have purchased state assets and are contesting elections, particularly MPs.
Following their probe, they will expose these politicians and urge Ghanaians to vote against them.
“Aside from that, we are also prepared to drag these individuals to court and pray for the court to prevent them from contesting the elections.
We cannot allow thieves to contest our elections and expect to be elected to go and represent us in parliament. We also call on the Electoral Commission to disqualify any politician who has illegally acquired state assets from contesting the elections. If the EC fails to do that, we drag those persons to court to place an injunction on them. You don’t deserve to go to Paris. As someone who has illegally acquired state properties, you don’t deserve to go to parliament because if we elect you to go to parliament, you will sell the whole country.”
