Alfred Agyei, 36, has been arrested for allegedly defiling a three-year-old daughter (name withheld).
He was initially arrested by residents in the vicinity and then turned over to the police.
The culprit allegedly defiled the victim in Nanasuano, a hamlet in the Berekum East Municipality in the Bono Region, leaving neighbours shocked and angry.
The victim’s father, Sambo Karim, informed journalists that Alfred Agyei brought his daughter into his room and reportedly molested her on Saturday, July 13, 2024.
He stated that the suspect brought the little child into his room as she was playing with her pals.
The father further revealed that another tenant in the house heard the minor crying from the room of the suspect.
The culprit was apprehended following unsuccessful attempts to flee, sparking rapid action from concerned citizens, who arrested and took him to Berekum Police Station.
Meanwhile, the Berekum Circuit Court has remanded the 36-year-old man and set to appear again in the court by Monday, August 29.
