The Overlord of Wa, Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV, has appealed to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to intervene in the recent increase in serial killings in the area.
The traditional ruler described the issue as troubling and asked the Vice President, who is also the Chairman of the Police Council, to use his office to help address the issue.
The Overlord was worried that no arrests have been made despite 17 people killed in the past three years.
He was speaking during the campaign tour of Dr. Bawumia, who urged him to use his influence to help address the situation and bring relief to the people.
“…As Chairman of the Ghana Police Council, we implore you to use your office to enhance the capacity of the Wa and Upper West Police Command. We urgently need additional men and logistics such as patrol vehicles to effectively address the current security challenges we face,” he said.
The killings of security guards, whose bodies have been found decapitated or with organs, including private parts, removed, have left residents in fear.
A driver was recently discovered deceased with his throat sliced behind a trailer.
The Overlord noted that with the Veep’s support, “we can strengthen the police presence in Wa to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the people.”
Responding, the Vice President indicated that the people in Wa would benefit more under his presidency and appealed to them to support him in winning the election.
“We believe that the north and Wa state will benefit more from eight years of Bawumia presidency than four years of the other option,” he added.
