The Aggrieved Menzgold Customers have disclosed that some members are currently mentally unstable.
Convener Fred Forson, who made the disclosure, said that due to their inability to retrieve their locked-up funds, these individuals are on the streets mad.
Speaking in an interview on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, he posited that the members are going through serious economic hardship.
He served notice that they would continue to protest and demand their locked-up funds, and no amount of intimidation would stop them.
He lamented that several of the members have developed diabetes and kidney problems and are unable to pay for their medications.
Others have also hit the streets mad because the situation has become unbearable for them, he told host Kwabena Agyapong.
He claimed that “Menzgold customers are struggling. We have almost 50 platforms. Customers are crying and complaining about economic difficulty. Some have diabetes and kidney issues. Others are blind. Some of them are on the streets and have gone mad. I personally know some of the people who are o9n the streets and have gone insane. So, if there are those who do not feel empathy for us, they do not deserve to be part of our governance structure. What is going on is a symptom of a democracy in crisis.”
He added that they remain optimistic about retrieving their locked funds, and nothing will stop them from doing so.
According to him, the government has shown no commitment to resolving the issue, adding that they feel it is discriminatory for the government to promise Gold Coast Fund customers their locked funds and leave them out.
