We’II give the NDC a little bit of credibility for some of its policies, including the 24-hour economy – CenPOA

Michael Donyina Mensah, the Executive Director of the Centre for Public Opinion and Awareness (CenPOA), says the think tank will give the National Democratic Congress (NDC) a little bit of credibility for some of its policies, including the 24-hour economy.

According to him, the reason they have taken this decision is because the NPP is still in power and ought to do whatever can transform the economy now and stop telling Ghanaians they will do it in 2025.

He noted that they are waiting for the manifestos to access them and make their final conclusions.

He advised the ruling government to take steps to address the challenges confronting. Ghanaians and stop telling us they will do them after they win power in 2025.

He made the statements when asked for his opinion on the two political parties’ campaign actions and policies.

He saw it as a huge challenge because the two major political parties have yet to release their manifestos.

“Before we can comprehensively examine their policies, we need to wait for the two parties to release their manifestos so we have something solid to discuss. However, so far, we would grant the National Democratic Congress considerable legitimacy, as well as some of the programs they have advocated, such as the 24-hour economy.

The reason is that the NPP is still in power, so if there is anything that you would want to do to transform the economy, you can implement it right now and don’t have to wait and say that we have to vote for you before you do it. So the benefit of doubt is tilting towards the NDC more because they are not in power, and people would want to give them the chance. So if the NPP has anything to do to transform the economy, they should implement it right now and don’t have to wait till 2025 when they come into power.”
