A man was reportedly killed by his co-tenant in Suibo, Suaman Dadieso District, in the Western North Region, following allegations of cutlass theft.
Solomon Adukpe, Assemblyman for the Oparekrom Electoral area, claimed that the deceased, Mathew Adu, took a cutlass from the accused, whose identity he does not know because he only came to the area two weeks ago.
He indicated that after Matthew returned from work with the cutlass, he met the accused near their home.
He added that the accused individual demanded the return of his cutlass, but Matthew stated that he would return it to the original location from which he took it.
He noted that during the exchange, the accused attempted to retrieve the cutlass, leading to a struggle in which Matthew pulled the cutlass, which accidentally slashed the accused’s palm.
Angered by the injury and believing it was intentional, the accused took the cutlass from Matthew and allegedly attacked him with it.
According to Mr. Adukpe, Matthew was rushed to Dadieso Government Hospital but died there, and his body was deposited at an Enchi mortuary.
The suspect has subsequently been detained and is assisting the police in their investigations.
