Ghanaians are eagerly waiting for your position on Agyapadie and Founders Day debate –  Bawumia told

August 7, 2024
apaak8

Dr. Clement Apaak, Member of Parliament for Builsa South, has challenged Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to explain his opinion on the issue over Ghana’s founder or founders.

The lawmaker says the vice president and presidential candidate of the NPP ought to tell Ghanaians his position on the matter.

He also wants him to react to the controversies surrounding the ‘Agyapadie’ document, which President Akufo-Addo has described as fake.

Dr. Apaak argued that former President John Dramani Mahama has stated his position on these two matters.

Speaking in Bawku on Saturday, Aug 3, 2024, as part of his campaign tour of the Upper East, Mr Mahama shot down the pronouncement by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the Okyenhene that the “Agyapadie” document was a fabrication.

He asked that if the document [Agyapadie] was fabricated, how about its implementation and suggested that, its “implementation is evidence of its authenticity.”

“If the ‘Agyapadie’ document is fabricated, its implementation is not fabricated,” Mahama said.

Mr. Mahama also slammed the President for rejecting completely that Dr. Kwame Nkrumah is not the founder of Ghana and had also pledged to reinstate the July 1 Republic Day celebration, which was scrapped by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The NDC’s candidate also announced plans by a new NDC administration to scrap the August 4 Founders’ Day celebration introduced by the NPP.

Dr. Clement Apaak emphasised that Ghanaians want to know the position of the NPP’s candidate, which he added has and will continue to engender public discussions.

Read his full post he shared on X below;

Ghanaians want to know the position of the NPP Flagbearer, DMB, on the following topical issues:

1) The Founder of Ghana
2) The Agyapadie document

JDM, the NDC Flagbearer, has made his position on the above issues known, with no ambiguity.

JDM believes that Dr. Kwame Nkrumah is the founder of Ghana and has pledged to reinstate 1st July as Republic Day. He further believes that the Agyapadie document can not be fabricated or fake. Like many Ghanaians who have followed developments since 2017 and have seen the contents of the document, he believes it has been given effect.

Consequently, Ghanaians want to know the position of DMB on these issues, which have and continue to engender public discussions and commentaries.

Duly tabled.

Dr. Clement Apaak
MP/PC, Builsa South
