My opponent is going around pounding fufu; he’ll know his smoothness level after the election – Yaw Boamah

August 8, 2024
Patrick-Yaw-Boamah-696x464

Mr. Patrick Yaw Boamah, a Ghanaian politician, lawyer, and Member of Parliament for Okaikwei Central, claims that his opponent’s frequent visits to households to pound fufu and participate in frivolous activities will not win him the 2024 parliamentary election.

Mr. Boamah said he is not one of those politicians who brags about what they do, but he has over the years represented the interests of his constituents.

He indicated that several polls and predictions conducted every election year have consistently placed him as the one to win the contest.

He stated that while his opponent engages in populism, he (Boamah) will be victorious due to his track record.

“He should continue going around pounding fufu. By the time he realises, the elections are over and he and he will know his smoothness level. I am a focused politician. I am not a braggart, and whatever I have been tasked to do by my people is what I keep doing. I will not be distracted by populism. The election is an accountability period, and so if you fail to deliver, the people will vote you out,” he said.

He continued,, “I am not a complacent politician. I am a focused politician and a dedicated MP who has served his people well. The proper opinion poll is on December 7. This is not the first time I have been projected. It has been the same every election year. The constituents and voters are wise people, and they will not trade coins for chicken change. They know what they want.

Both the Christians, the Muslims, and the atheists know who can lead them and lead them well. As their MP, I have remained dedicated, I have been of service, and I have not also misbehaved myself,, which is why they trust me. I was the opposition MP when they elected me. With their support, I have had the opportunity to be appointed Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee. I became the Ranking Member on the Subsidiary Committee, and I am now the Chairman of the Finance Committee, among other ad-hoc committees of Parliament that selects people with integrity to serve the country.

I am not a selfish and reckless politician. I am not greedy, I am not self-centred, and I am also not someone who wants to amass wealth for himself. So I try to live within my means. I also try my best to offer any form of assistance to my constituents when it is within my capacity. That is my nature, and so I will extend my gratitude to my constituents,” he said in an interview on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5 FM87.5 FM.
