The presidential candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has described his clearance by the Special Prosecutor on the Airbus scandal as a pleasant feeling.
He referred to the matter as a baseless allegation meant to tarnish his image.
The former president noted that, nearly eight years after leaving office, no allegation of corruption has been proven against him.
“I have been out of office for more than seven years, seven months. No allegation of wrongdoing has been proven against me, including the baseless airbus brouhaha that this government attempted to clothe me with.
“Once again today, I say it is a pleasant feeling to stand vindicated,” Mr. Mahama said.
He was speaking at a public lecture to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the death of Ing. Paul Victor Obeng.
Mr. John Mahama stated that the NDC and its members have consistently submitted themselves for investigation whenever allegations of corruption are made against them.
