The presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has urged Ghanaians to support one another during these challenging economic times.
He says it would be important for us to help each other and show compassion and solidarity in those difficult times.
Mr. Mahama made the appeal while speaking as the Special Guest of Honour at the 31st Biennial General Council meeting of the Assemblies of God, Ghana.
The event was held at the CK Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences (CKT-UTAS) in Navrongo, Upper East Region.
He opined that Ghanaians were experiencing economic difficulties due to the economic challenges confronting the country.
“We’ve seen an increase in multidimensional poverty from the Ghana Statistical Service’s recent statistics. It says that 8 million of our people in 2023 went one day without food because they couldn’t afford it. It means that people are hungry, and the hardship is real.
“This is the time for us to show compassion to each other because, in times of poverty, we must be our fellows’s keepers,” he advised.
In his view, the situation calls for a collective response, where individuals, especially those who are more fortunate, should extend a helping hand to the less privileged in society.
