The Police have detained two Twifo Praso Senior High School pupils for inciting their classmates to lynch a spiritualist.
According to available information, the two students lynched the spiritualist after he had accused one of them of stealing a mobile phone.
The incident occurred at Twifo Praso in the Central Region. The spiritualist has been identified as Abdul Latif.
The pupils are currently in police custody, collaborating with the continuing investigation.
The incident happened on Wednesday [August 21, 2024] at about 8pm.
The spiritualist was reportedly consulted to find out the whereabouts of a stolen mobile phone.
He is said to have revealed that one of the students stole the phone, which belonged to a junior student.
The junior student’s phone had gone missing, and the classmates reportedly sought the help of a spiritualist to determine who stole it.
After consulting his deities, the spiritualist told them one of the students stole the phone.
Angered by this, the said student mobilised his gang of approximately ten people, who ambushed and attacked Abdul Latif, beating him severely till he died.
They then dumped his body into a bush and covered it with weeds.
The police recovered the body and deposited it at the Twifo Praso Government Hospital Mortuary for autopsy.
