Ghanaian economist, Mr. Obiri Yeboah, has praised the party’s flagbearer, John Mahama, for his promise to establish a fertility centre if elected in the 2024 presidential election.
Mr. Mahama announced on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at the launch of the party’s manifesto that the next NDC government will construct a state-of-the arts Fertility Centre in Accra to address infertility challenges.
“Expand facilities at the Ho Teaching Hospital to provide comprehensive specialist services with the view to establishing a quaternary hospital in the Volta region to attract medical tourism.“Build a Specialist and Trauma Hospital in the Oti Region for emergencies on the eastern corridor and establish a modern dialysis centre in hospitals in regions that don’t have them,” he stated.
Additionally, Mr. Mahama has said he will build modern hospitals in Bawku, Yendi, and other underserved areas.
The NDC flagbearer pledged to expand health infrastructure to restore automatic employment and timely deployment of health workers.
Speaking on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, he asserted that if you have not experienced the lack of having children or have difficulty having children, you will not appreciate the promise made by former President John Dramani Mahama.
He noted that ‘’Mr. Mahama made a pledge, and I think Ghanaians are yet to appreciate its value and importance. When someone promises to establish a fertility centre to provide services for women who want to bear children, if you have not been affected by this, you will not appreciate the promise or the sense in it. Several people are married, and after making attempts to have children, they have difficulty conceiving through natural means. Over the last two weeks, a broadcast journalist from Sompa TV shared her story about her inability to appreciate all the efforts put in place. So for me, I think the promise by Mahama is one of the best policies if it is well implemented. Even though it might not benefit a lot of people, a minority in that category will appreciate it, and it is one of the best initiatives to be promised by a political party.’’
Mr. Obiri Yeboah also commended the former President and the entire party machinery at the manifesto launch for explaining their policies well.
He said the party touched on roads, agriculture, and infrastructure, and all of them got it right. I only hope and pray that it will be business as usual, where the political parties make all forms of promises but fail to deliver on them.
He went on to state that the explanation of the 24-hour economy was top-notch, and any form of ambiguity surrounding the policy has been resolved.
‘’Aside from the policy being a political message, on the face of it, it gives a lot of common sense, and it will go a long way towards helping all those who sign onto it’’.
