Clement Wilkinson, the Municipal Chief Executive of the Ga West Municipal Assembly, has reacted to the manifesto launch by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), saying that that of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) surpasses that of the NDC.
He likened former President John Dramani Mahama to a failed West African Senior High School Certificate Examination candidate who failed the exams and was preparing to write the Novedec exams.
He said Mr. Mahama is a failed leader who is only talking without any policy proposals aimed at transforming the country.
He claimed that if the NPP had not won the 2016 elections, Ghana would have been plunged into darkness for more than four years Mahama subjected Ghanaians to.
He said the NDC has failed in explaining the 24-hour economy to Ghanaians.
He was responding to top comments made by former deputy finance minister Mona Quartey, who accused the NPP of destroying the economy, borrowing recklessly and having nothing to show for the loans, as well as engaging in unprecedented levels of corruption.
“Mahama can be likened to a student who failed his WASSCE. He is now preparing for a resit. But he is not someone who can be trusted. The two parties have launched their manifestos, and we can boldly state that the manifesto of the NPP is superior. If the NPP had not won the 2016 elections, we would have been plunged into dumsor for more than the years we experienced under the NDC. Mahama keeps talking without any tangible or realistic policies. We know the record of Mahama; we know what he did and the record he left behind.
He is not a man who can be trusted. They could not even explain their 24-hour economy, and yet they want Ghanaians to vote for them. That is not possible,’’ he added. They think we have short memories, so they keep making promises that are unrealistic. They cannot deceive Ghanaians into voting for them. Bawumia has demonstrated leadership, credibility and integrity and he is the one Ghanaians will vote for.’’
