President candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has asked appointees of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) not to flee the country if the party loses the general elections.
According to him, they have to stay in Ghana to face accountability for the various cases of corruption and corruption-related activities.
He reiterated his commitment to prosecute all corrupt officials of the NPP government if he is elected as the next president.
He said this while addressing a gathering while on tour in Ada, in the Greater Accra Region.
Mr. Mahama declared that no one found guilty of corrupt practices would escape justice.
“Those who know that they have in any way caused a loss to this country—millions of cedis—should not even try to leave the country after the elections because my government will make sure it prosecutes them all. They must account for the good people of Ghana,” Mahama said.
In his explanation of the value of honesty in public service, the former president insisted that anyone hoping to work in his administration should be prepared to maintain the strictest accountability standards.
“Before you accept to work with me come 2025, you must, first of all, agree to be accountable and transparent with the good people of Ghana,” Mahama added.
