The Coalition of Unemployed Environmental Health Graduates has served notice of demonstration over the failure of the government to post them.
The Coalition intends to hold the demonstration on September 10 and has written to the police informing the service of their intended action.
The Public Relations Officer of the coalition, Addai Jacob, disclosed that the batches of 2021 and 2024 after graduation have not been deployed or employed.
He said it has now become clear that the Sanitation Ministry has done its part by submitting their details to the Finance Ministry for clearance to be granted so they would be employed; however, the Ministry has delayed.
According to him, the only option left for them is to picket at the Finance Ministry and demand immediate posting.
”The Ministry of Sanitation has discharged its duties and submitted our particulars to the Ministry of Finance. However, the Finance Ministry has refused to grant clearance, thereby obstructing our posting. In response, we will be staging a peaceful demonstration at the Finance Ministry on September 10, 2024. Our follow-up interactions revealed that the responsible official is unable to sign off on our clearance due to lack of authorization. Therefore, we will be occupying the premises with our essential items and remaining there until clearance is granted.”
”During an interview with Kwabena Agyapong on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, he expressed concern that the government has shown no interest in addressing their issue, highlighting that teachers, nurses, and security personnel have received clearance for postings, while they have been neglected. He questioned their status as Ghanaians, emphasizing the alarming level of neglect and discrimination. He noted that financial clearance has been granted to 15,000 nurses and 17,000 teachers, while their group of 3,000 from 2021 to 2024 batches remains unaddressed. He threatened to picket to demand attention, citing their inability to rely on parental support.”
