The eastern part of the affected structure at the Accra Zongo Lane fire has collapsed.
This was an update provided by the Ghana National Service.
No casualty was however recorded; the service disclosed, saying, ‘’Fortunately, neither firefighters nor civilian casualties were recorded.” Efforts underway to fully douse the protracted fire.’’
Personnel from the GNFS have since Sunday morning been putting out the raging fire, which has destroyed goods worth millions of Ghana cedi.
Reports indicate that the fire started in a small shop and quickly spread to nearby stores, filling the sky with thick black smoke.
The police have cordoned off the area, preventing public access as part of measures to prevent injuries.
Several shops in the area have also been shut down as part of the safety measures.
