The Electoral Commission (EC) says it has already detected some errors on the forms submitted by some of the presidential candidates.
Deputy Commissioner in charge of operations, Mr. Samuel Tettey, said the electoral body has written to those who have errors on their forms.
He said the law requires them to notify the candidates of these errors so they will make the necessary corrections.
Mr. Tettey, speaking to journalists after the EC had closed nominations, said, “So those who brought their nomination forms from Monday, we have actually written to them indicating to them the errors, and they are expected to make the corrections. We have written to them because the law actually states that if there are errors on the forms submitted, they have the right to effect those corrections.”
He further announced that the EC will be able to determine or disclose those who were able to qualify to contest when all the corrections and errors on the forms have been corrected.
“Within the next two days, that is, after Saturday, when we have actually seen all the numbers, maybe Sunday or Monday, we should be able to know all those who have actually qualified for the next aspect, which is the balloting for positions on the presidential ballot paper.”
He stressed that those who will participate in the balloting would mean that the EC would have allowed those with errors identified on their forms to be corrected and successfully qualified to contest.
