Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has vowed to build a sea defence wall and a harbour for the people of Sege if elected as Ghana’s next President.
The Vice President stated that the sea defence wall will address the disastrous impact of tidal surges in Sege and neighbouring areas, while also promoting economic growth by strengthening infrastructure for the local fishing sector.
During his trip of the Greater Accra Region, Bawumia addressed a meeting of chiefs, traditional leaders, and Sege residents, emphasising the urgent need for development in the coastal town.
He believes that Sege’s key location as a fishing centre necessitates crucial infrastructure to secure its citizens’ livelihoods and enable the community to prosper economically.
“We need a mini-harbour. So we are going to work on bringing a mini harbour to Sege here for you and that is a very important thing. And then, of course, very important, we need to do the sea defence for this area.
“So I have a lot to do for you. If I come back in four years, I will have to give an account of what I have done with the sea defence.”
