Presidential candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has promised to build a cocoa processing facility in Kukuom, located in the Asunafo South District of the Ahafo Region.
He said this during a campaign tour in the Ahafo Region.
The former president remains committed to addressing youth unemployment if elected president.
Mr. Mahama assured the residents that as part of the industrialisation agenda, his administration will construct the cocoa processing facility, which is part of a broader economic transformation plan centred around his proposed 24-hour economy policy.
He explained that the cocoa processing facility would be a key piece in his broader industrialisation agenda, which aims to establish industrial hubs across the country, particularly in regions with strong agricultural outputs.
“I was very happy with the chief’s submission because of his understanding of our 24-hour economy policy. We have realised that, to successfully implement the policy, we need to embark on a massive industrialisation drive, and as part of that, we will construct a cocoa processing facility for the Kukuom community.
“This will discontinue the exportation of cocoa for processing.”
