The presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has taken a swipe at Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia over his claims that the current government has created over two million jobs.
Dr. Bawumia had claimed that the NPP government has between 2017 and 2024 created 2.1 million jobs.
But the former president said there is no evidence to support the claims by the government.
He indicated that this is just a political deception by the NPP to seek votes from the people.
Speaking during a campaign stop in Asutifi North in the Ahafo Region, Mahama dismissed these claims.
He maintained that the 2.1 million quoted by the Vice President is inflated and does not reflect the reality of Ghanaians.
“We cannot be deceived by the unemployment rate, under the NDC administration it was 8.4% but it has since risen.
“Despite the president and vice president claiming to have created over two million jobs, I ask where are these jobs and how many have reached the residents.”
“This seems like mere rhetoric aimed at winning votes. That is why we are advocating for a 24-hour economy policy to create new job opportunities,” he stated.
