The Member of Parliament for Builsa South, Dr. Clement Apaak has taken Sheikh Ishaak Ibrahim Nuamah for asking Muslims to vote for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia because he is a Muslim.
The lawmaker described the call as a dangerous religious sentiments that must be widely condemned.
The Islamic cleric has been seen in a viral video admonishing Muslims to vote massively for Dr. Bawumia since this was the first time they would have a Muslim elected President.
In the said video, he opined that ‘’if not now, when again?’’
He argued that not voting for Bawumia would be a terrible act against their children and the next generation of Muslims.
In response, Dr. Apaak urged the National Peace Council to denounce the act since it may inspire others to do the same.
According to him, others may take advantage of this and incite further negative religious sentiments.
He wondered what would have been the case if others have made similar calls for former President John Dramani Mahama and asked Christians to vote for him because he was a Christian.
‘’Should a Christian Pastor also say Christians must vote John Dramani Mahama because he is a Christian? The National Peace Council must condemn this religious bigotry before it generates copycats,’’ he said in tweet on X formerly Twitter.
