The presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party posited that they have achieved a lot in the health sector including job creation for health professionals, introduced several initiatives to enhance health delivery and also improved the Health Insurance Scheme.

‘’We have constructed 47 hospitals. We constructed 230 health centres. We also constructed 428 CHPS Compound. These projects excludes the Agenda 111 hospitals. We are currently constructing 111 Agenda 111 Hospitals at the same time. We also initiated the one constituency, one ambulance initiative. We have improved the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS). Today, childhood cancer is covered under the NHIS. Sickle Cell Disease and Drug Hydroxyurea are also under the NHIS. Free Dialysis for kidney patients from over 60 and under 80 is free. We introduced the drone delivery services to all different parts of Ghana delivering essential drugs . The work we have done and the employment opportunities for health personnel under this government since 2017 is 200,587.’’

On her part, the Medical Superintendent expressed gratitude to the government for the project but like an ‘Oliver Twist’ she appealed to the government to construct a well equipped emergency unit centre so they can attend to trauma cases; staff accommodation  facility to accommodate doctors and other professionals

‘’We need a well equipped emergency unit. We are in a mining community and we see a lot of trauma cases. Accidents on our roads among others so we need an emergency structure so we can do a lot for the people in Tarkwa Nsuaem. We are ready. We do a lot already. We would be grateful to receive a staff accommodation unit. A storey building so we can accommodate more nurses.’’
