The General Agricultural Workers Union (GAWU) of TUC-Ghana has asked its members to stay away from work on Thursday, October 10, 2024.
The directive is in solidarity with the nationwide strike action declared by organised labour.
Labour is starting its announced demonstration in protest against the failure of the government to address their demands concerning illegal mining activities.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, GAWU posited that they have decided to join the strike action due to the outcome of the meeting between the leadership of Labour and the President.
“We therefore call on management to support this course, as all workers are directed to stay off work with effect from Thursday, October 10, 2024, until the government accedes to our demands.”
