The printing of ballot papers has not started- EC

October 11, 2024
EC EC

The Electoral Commission (EC) has clarified that printing of ballot papers for the December 7 presidential and parliamentary elections has not yet commenced.

This was in response to some concerns circulating on social media after it announced its decision to start printing the notices of poll.

Ghana Card registration bad issuance to commence in London on Monday, November 17

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) had written to the EC asking it to halt the printing of ballot papers for the general elections.

The NDC National Chairperson, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, said that the EC has not met the basic requirement of providing stakeholders with a finalised voters’ register, Electoral Code Book, and ballot statistics before proceeding to print ballot papers.

But the EC in response to these concerns explained to the public that the printing of ballot papers has not yet commenced.

It said in a statement that the printing of Notices of Poll for both the presidential and parliamentary elections is scheduled to begin on Friday, October 11, 2024.

The EC assured that the actual printing of ballot papers will only commence after the Commission provides ballot statistics to all candidates, political parties, and printing houses.

“As has always been the case, the Commission will provide ballot statistics to the candidates, political parties, and all printing houses before the printing of ballot papers starts.

“Printing of ballot papers will only commence after ballot statistics have been provided to all stakeholders. The Commission will not depart from this practice.

“We urge the public and all stakeholders to trust the Electoral Commission to deliver a transparent, credible, free, and fair election in December 2024.”
