A driver and his mate have been rushed to Tafo Government Hospital in Abuakwa North after their long truck was involved in a catastrophic accident at Bunso on Friday, October 11, 2024.
The driver of a DAF XF long lorry with registration number GW-5959-23 filled with drinks and food from Togo and travelling to Kumasi is claimed to have been dosing off when he arrived at Bunso shortly after evading the CSIR bend near Bunso Junction.
Agya Dan, reporting on Nyankonton Mu Nsem for Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, reported that the large truck suddenly veered off course, forcing the driver to lose control of the steering wheel.
Falling onto its side, it brought down a high-tension pole owned by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
To avert fatalities, the power supply was turned off immediately.
The Ambulance Service, Ghana Fire Service, and Ghana Police Service were dispatched to rescue the driver and his passenger, who were still stuck in the automobile.
They quickly transported them to the Tafo Government Hospital for treatment.
