In the Central Region’s Twifo Atimorkwa District, specifically Twifo Ahyire, an 8-year-old boy’s accidental discharge of a firearm led to the tragic death of his 12-year-old brother, Mawuko.
Samuel Hegbige, the boys’ father and a farmer-hunter, had left his gun unattended upon returning from the farm.
During a playful interaction, the young boy allegedly picked up the firearm, aimed at Mawuko, and pulled the trigger, resulting in his death.
Led by Superintendent Charles Addai Boateng, police swiftly responded to the scene, arresting Samuel Hegbige as part of their investigation.
The juvenile involved was briefly taken into custody before being released to family care.
Meanwhile, the police assured the public of their dedication to ensuring justice and accountability.
