A 15-year-old boy, Ebenezer Koomson, also known as Sofo, was found deceased in the Jomo River at Juaboso Nkwanta in the Western North Region.
According to a reliable source, the tragic incident occurred yesterday afternoon at approximately 12:10 pm, with the body being recovered at 2:25 pm.
Ebenezer was an apprentice welder in Juaboso Nkwanta.
Richard Kwarteng, reporting on Nyankonton Mu Nsem for Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, said the incident has left the bereaved family in shock and grief.
The deceased was known to be a responsible apprentice, and his death has devastated his parents and neighbours.
He claimed to have gone to the river to wash his master’s dirty clothes and took advantage of the opportunity to swim, but he drowned.
He also stated that the minor was at the river with his master when the incident occurred, and that all efforts to locate him proved futile, so the master rushed home and informed the police and residents.
A search party was dispatched to the riverbank, and after hours of searching, they discovered his lifeless body.
