Parliamentary candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency, John Dumelo, says there is no fair or level playing field in the upcoming December 7 general elections.
The candidate stated categorically that the ruling NPP is attempting to manipulate the election results, but the NDC will resist and protect the ballots.
The entrepreneur, philanthropist, and farmer said although the contest would not be an easy task, he was optimistic the NDC will snatch the seat from the NPP in this year’s election.
He told Rainbowradioonline.com that constituents have pledged to vote massively for him, but the party should protect the ballots to ensure that the ruling government does not rig it.
According to John Dumelo, ”a level playing field is not available. You will recall that in 2020, they prevented me from starting a project at Westland. They are still using intimidating tactics, but I will not be scared. But, overall, our eyes are wide open, and we are ready to protect the ballots on December 7, 2024. Every time we embark a campaign, our constituents promise to vote massively for us, but they also tell us to protect the ballots. We made some mistakes in 2020, but we’re going into the 2024 elections with our eyes wide open.”
He stated that based on facts in his possession, the NPP intends to rig polls across the country, but the NDC remains vigilant, and any attempt by the NPP will be fiercely opposed.
‘’We are prepared to snatch the seat from the NPP. If elections were held tomorrow, the NDC would win the elections with a very wide margin. We know it is not going to be easy, but victory is waiting for us on the 7th of December 2024.’’
