Perpetual Didier, a Ghanaian gospel musician, has lamented that a lack of investment has prevented many creative and talented gospel musicians from breaking through or shining.
The musician stated that it has become difficult in recent years for musicians, particularly gospel musicians, to gain the necessary attention.
In an interview with Rainbowradioonline.com, the musician stated that she has a lot of ideas, but a lack of investment has limited her creativity.
Perpetual Didier bemoaned the rising cost of production and promotion, which many musicians are unable to afford.
”A few years ago, when someone identified as a gospel musician, it didn’t take long for the person to break through. However, this has changed in recent years. It is different now because we do not have enough investment. The cost of production and anything related to music has skyrocketed. Many artists find it difficult to promote their songs before they go viral. So what we rely on is performance at programs or events.”
She said that the majority of pastors who also invite them to events don’t pay them their worth.
“Some of us, because of our passion for the ministry, don’t get anything out of it.” But we continue to do God’s work. When we are invited to events and are blessed, that is fine; however, if we are also appreciated, we accept it because it is for the sake of the gospel.
The truth is that there are no investors. There is no help on the way. It’s become difficult for gospel musicians. We require investments. Personally, I do not have a problem with talent. It’s about a lack of investment. My issue is money, and I have been consistent about it. But I am hopeful that one day God will give me the opportunity to do what I want in ministry.”
