President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reiterated that he remains committed to a peaceful transition of power.
He has therefore promised to hand over the presidency to the winner of the 2024 general elections, as chosen by the Ghanaian people.
Speaking at the grand durbar of the Anlo Hogbetsotso Za festival on November 2, 2024, President Akufo-Addo said the upcoming elections would be conducted in a free, fair, transparent, and peaceful manner.
“As we all know, without peace, there can be no proper development. The peace we are currently enjoying is the peace that we will carry through to the elections on 7th December.
“I want to assure the people of Anlo, the people of the Volta region and the people of Ghana, that the elections, the forthcoming elections in December, are going to be free, fair, transparent, and peaceful.
“And on the 7th of December, I will hand over the baton of national leadership to whoever the people of Ghana choose to succeed me.”
President Akufo-Addo also thanked the chiefs and people of Anlo for their constant support and prayers during his presidency.
He also expressed his deepest gratitude to all Ghanaians for keeping peace during his tenure.
