The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, has accused the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) of being responsible for the demise of Ghana’s largest indigenous produce buying company (PBC).
He added that the current administration’s incompetence has decimated PBC and many other state-owned firms.
Former President Mahama was also concerned that PBC employees had not been paid for 9 months.
Mr. Mahama made these remarks while addressing supporters during a campaign stop in Enchi Aowin, Western North Region.
“In eight years, the economy has dwindled. When I was president, PBC bought 30 percent of Ghana’s cocoa. Now they can no longer do so.
“The company has collapsed under this government. For eight years, they have not been able to pay the workers as well.”
