The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has warned the public not to engage in any sort of electoral malfeasance as the December elections near.
He cautioned that such persons will be dealt with in accordance with Ghanaian law. Dr. Dampare stated at the launching of a new police station in Akyem-Manso, Eastern Region, that the police were prepared to provide for the impending elections.
He specifically requested that people exercise their voting rights peacefully, emphasising respect for the democratic process and the rights of others.
“Don’t be lured into creating confusion during the polls because my people will not spare you. Don’t forget that the people who will lure you to create confusion will switch off their phones when you are arrested. They will simply abandon you,” he warned.
“We are fully prepared, and I can assure you that the elections will be peaceful,” Dr. Dampare affirmed, calling on all Ghanaians to support efforts to uphold the integrity of the electoral process.
