The Electoral Commission (EC) says a quantity of electoral materials for the Ahafo and VoltaRegions were burnt on Saturday, November 16, 2024.
According to the electoral body, the destroyed materials were made up of excess scrap ballot papers and plates used for the printing of the presidential and parliamentary hallots for the Ahafo and Volta Regions.
It said the destruction, which was done through burning, was witnessed by political party agents of the National Intelligence Bureau, National Security, Ghana Police Service, and the Elcctoral Commission.
It further revealed that the Commission will today, Sunday, November 17, 2024, account for all the ballot papers printed for both regions, which will be burnt subsequently due to challenges with the serial numbers.
The EC will inform the parties and other stakeholders in due course so they will come and witness the exercise.
