The Ghana Police Service has invited Oheneba Nana Asiedu, a Kumasi-based radio and television presenter who works with Wontumi radio, to assist with ongoing investigations.
The police have summoned the presenter in relation to the false news he disseminated on radio in connection with the general elections on December 7.
He stated in the radio broadcast that the presidential elections would be held on separate days for the candidates.
The presenter stated that only Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and other candidates from number two to number seven will be on the ballot on December 7, while the other candidates from number eight, occupied by former President John Dramani Mahama, to number thirteen will face off on different dates.
The police statement said that the suspect has been summoned to report to the Ashanti Regional Police Command in Kumasi to provide information and cooperate fully with the investigation process.
Meanwhile, the Police have cautioned the general public, with a particular emphasis on media practitioners, about the grave responsibility they bear in disseminating accurate and verified information.
