Gizella Tetteh Agbotui, Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya West, has voiced concerns about the proposed relocation of the coalition centre for the 2024 elections.
The Awutu Bereku Durbar grounds has served as the coalition centre for the constituency for the past eight elections.
However, the police have suggested relocating the centre to Awutu Winton Senior High School, which the MP believes is unfortunate and may disrupt the peace of the people of Awutu Senya West.
She has therefore urged constituents to report any suspicious activity to the police to ensure swift action during a meeting with the leadership of the local council of churches in Bawjiase.
“We have done collation in the Awutu Durbar grounds for almost eight elections. Just last week we were invited by the police to the Regional Command and were told that the IGP is proposing a new venue, and this is the Awutu Bereku Durbar ground.
“My problem is why is the IGP proposing that venue since we all agreed to the Durbar grounds? It is not good for the peace we are enjoying now.
“In the last elections, there were some vigilante groups in Obrakyere to steal the ballot boxes but one of them was arrested and beaten by the angry mob. I want to urge you all to report any suspicious act to the police for onward action.”
