The Ghana Police Service has cautioned the Ghanaian public against the brandishing and indiscriminate use of toy guns in the country.
The Service disclosed that such acts are criminal offences and punishable by law.
A statement issued by the Service explained that the brandishing and indiscriminate use of toy guns is contrary to Section 207 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).
It has therefore warned that all persons arrested for that would be put before court to face justice.
This comes after 26 people were arrested for brandishing and indiscriminate use of the toy guns.
The craze for the use of the toy guns took social media by storm in Kumasi.
Some engaged in competitions and created contents about the toy guns, leading to a shortage of the guns and a hike in the price.
But the Service is warning that these acts are criminal.
Meanwhile, the 26 arrested individuals are assisting them with their investigation and will put them before court to face justice.
The statement issued by the police said a quantity of the guns have been retrieved from the suspects as part of the ongoing investigation.
The police revealed investigations were also underway to arrest other suspects connected to the issue.
