Justice Siaw Mandela, a political analyst, has lamented that Ghanaians were disappointed by the eighth parliament of the fourth republic.
He expressed disappointment because he had high hopes that the equal representation on both sides of the House meant Ghanaians wanted them to work together.
But from what has happened over the years, he believes, the eight parliament has not lived up to expectations.
Speaking on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM’s Nyankonton Mu Nsem, “This eight parliament in the fourth republic was a parliament I had strong hopes for because of the numbers. President Akufo-Addo stated in his first state of the nation address that the eight parliaments demonstrated Ghanaians’ desire for our MPs to collaborate, but it is unfortunate that this has not occurred.
I’m disappointed because the eight parliament failed to meet the expectations of the citizens. This was the parliament that should have performed admirably. This parliament should have held the government responsible. “They should have had the nation at heart instead of their partisan political interests,” he argued.
