A former finance minister under the previous National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration, Dr. Kwabena Duffour, has described former President John Dramani Mahama as the ideal leader for Ghana’s future.
He stated that the former president possesses exceptional leadership qualities and an impressive track record.
He said Mr. Mahama is far superior compared to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who is the candidate for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Speaking in a media interview, he explained that there is enough evidence to prove that the former president was better to be elected as the next leader.
“Bawumia was a young man under me as a governor. Former president Mahama was the vice president when I was the finance minister. One has become president, and the other one has not become president. I am saying that the one who became president has a superior economic record; haven’t I told you that?
“So, what else do you want me to say? That’s why we are resetting. A superior economic record has been destroyed by the NPP. So, there’s a need to reset,” he said in an interview on Kumasi-based Ultimate FM with Julius Ceasar Anadem.
“I will give you all the figures. From economic growth to inflation, we [the NDC government] have performed better. We understand the issues better. And one of my principles has been to think through the economy carefully and think through how we can improve upon the economy.
“How do we do this to save society? I have a think tank; we have been doing this for years. So, the NDC has the experience and skills to turn the economy around, and it’s been done before. So the records are there.”
