President Akufo-Addo has reassured Ghanaians that the upcoming general elections will be held peacefully.
The President stated that nothing bad would happen during the elections, as some have speculated.
He noted that, despite the Covid-19 outbreak, the 2020 general elections were scheduled, confirming that Ghana will hold the elections peacefully.
”Don’t let anyone scare you about the upcoming elections. Even when Covid-19 struck, the elections were scheduled. The Covid-19 was much scarier, but we still held elections. Some suggested that we postpone the elections, but that was not an option I supported. I had completed my four-year term, and it was critical that we held elections. We will hold the elections this year, just like we did in 2020, and nothing will happen.”
The President stated this in a media interview while touring the Ashanti region.
He stated that elections provide us with the opportunity to elect individuals capable of managing the country’s affairs.
He argued that whatever issues Ghanaians are interested in voting on in the upcoming elections, they must consider the achievements of the NPP government, such as the free SHS policy, the Agenda 111 hospital projects, and all of the other policies implemented by his administration.
He praised Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the only candidate capable of building on his legacy.
”Dr. Bawumia is the only candidate who is capable of building on my legacy and preserving the gains made. John Mahama has no appreciation of what I have done. He will cancel all the various policies we have rolled out, and he will cancel all of them if he is elected into office. These policies will transform this country, and so a candidate who will cancel the free SHS, Agenda 111, and all my policies does not deserve your vote. So vote for Bawumia. He is a better choice.’’
