The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has reacted to the decision by the People’s National Convention (PNC) to declare its support for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its presidential candidate.
The PNC, whose candidate was disqualified from contesting the presidential election, has endorsed former President John Dramani Mahama.
This was after the party failed to secure victory from the case it filed in court.
The PNC announced its endorsement of the NDC during a press briefing on Wednesday, November 27, 2024.
According to the PNC, it has endorsed candidate Mahama and the NDC’s 250 parliamentary candidates in the constituencies where it has no parliamentary candidate.
But NPP Deputy General Secretary Haruna stated that endorsement by leadership of the PNC does not represent the grassroots of the party.
“Is the leadership that has made their declaration, and we know that the leadership of the PNC has always supported the NDC. Bernard Monarh, we all know that everything about him is NDC.
“So it is up to the other members of the party to decide who they want to vote for and we believe that we’ll be able to speak to their mind, we’ll be able to speak to their questions, we’ll be able to speak to their emotions, and they will get to understand that Ghana, where we are today, needs somebody that can lead the poor industrial revolution,” he stated.
“It doesn’t move us. It doesn’t move us so much because I believe that it is not the entire people of PNC. It is the decision of the leadership, and the decision of the leadership is already known.”
