The Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Andrew Egyapa Mercer, who is also the Member of Parliament for Sekondi, has declared that he will retain his seat as the MP.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for the area, Mr. Blay Nyamekye Armah, has expressed his preparedness to break the NPP’s hegemony.
But the incumbent MP says he has no problem with the optimism expressed by his contender.
‘’I don’t have any problem with him having hopes of winning. Of course, for anyone who contests an election, the ultimate objective is to win. So I don’t have a problem. But the point I want to make is that the people of Sekondi would have to make a decision, and I am saying that decision must be based on facts as exist, not misrepresentations, not lies against your opponent, and not statements you yourself know are false.’’
He was speaking during an interview with Dr. Ren on Rainbow Radio 92.4FM, United Kingdom.
He claimed that several lies had been spread about him in order to elicit negative reactions from others.
