The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has disclosed that it has deployed its anti-corruption mandate andpowers to assure the sanctity of the 2024 general elections.
The move the OSP explained is being done through prevention, control, andrepression of corruption, fraud, and unfair practices in relation to the elections.
In a statement, the OSP explained that it is an offence for any electoral official to falsify the account of votes or make a false return of the votes.
It also reminded the public that the law prohibits all forms of corrupt acts in relation to the elections.
The OSP stressed that “it is a serious offence to engage in vote buying, vote selling, intimidation, threats of violence, acts of violence, or impersonation of a voter or an electoral officer.
The Office is alive to its mandate and would promptly address any such occurrence, whichcomes to its notice.”
