The Ghana Police Service, in collaboration with the Eastern Regional Elections Security Taskforce has supervised the destruction of the defective ballot papers, which were recalled by the Electoral Commission (EC).
The recalled ballot papers were for the Eastern and Western regions.
The supervised destruction of the ballot papers was done today, Tuesday, December 3, 2024.
Constituency election directors of all the political parties were present to monitor the exercise right from their various armouries to the regional dump site on the Akwadum road.
All 31 constituencies that submitted ballots for the presidential and parliamentary elections were destroyed, with the exception of Afram Plains North and South Constituencies.
The Eastern Regional Director of the Electoral Commission, John Appiah Baffour, in a media interview, said, “The exercise has been very successful. Actually, we brought all the parties together and the constituency executives of the NPP, NDC, and CPP, and all of them have been here. They checked the seals on the ballot paper bags, and they saw that everything was intact before we offloaded them and burned them. So it has been very successful.”
