The Judicial Service of Ghana (JSG) has stated that judicial transfers, including the recent reassignment of Justice Priscilla Dikro Ofori, are routine administrative actions.
According to the service, these transfers are not intended to disrupt cases.
This was contained in a statement released by the Judicial Service.
Social media was awash with concerns over the transfer of the judge who was presiding over the ongoing trial of Alex Kwabena Safo Kantanka.
The service in its statement indicated that such transfers are part of an annual process or occur as circumstances require.
The service explained that judges being transferred are required to finalise judgements in completed cases and to complete trials that are near resolution.
According to the statement, transferred judges are required to provide the Chief Justice’s office with a Case Completion Plan.
This would enable the judges to deliver pending judgements and rulings by issuing warrants.
As part of the 2024 legal year transfers, Justice Ofori was transferred from Kumasi to Accra and has followed these protocols.
She has been given permission to close cases that are nearly finished after submitting her Case Completion Plan on November 29, 2024.
