The Electoral Commission (EC) has disclosed that the electoral body is not anticipating any shortage of electoral materials on December 7, which is the day for the presidential and parliamentary elections.
The chairperson, Madam Jean Mensa, assured the Ghanaian public that the EC is not anticipating any shortage of election materials and equipment in any part of the country.
She said this while addressing the media ahead of the December 7 polls.
According to her, the commission had distributed all materials and equipment to the regions in adequate quantities.
The EC Chair stated that 18,774,159 registered voters, representing 55 percent of the total population, are expected to cast their ballot on December 7, 2024.
Providing an update on the special voting exercise, she announced that the exercise was successful.
She said the special voting recorded high voter turnout, with the lowest turnout being 83 percent.
She also revealed that the commission had provided accreditation of close to 10,000 to the media to give the media access to polling stations, constituency, and regional collation centres.
Madam Jean Mensa admonished journalists to “rise to the task and cover elections accurately and truthfully.”.
Aside from that, the Commission had provided accreditation to over 20,000 local and international observers.
She added that the observers have also been provided with maps to be able to locate the various polling centres.
